On the Farm (Sept 28 - Oct 4)

The change at Root Awakening Farms is incredible! Our crops have more than doubled in sized and have even started to produce fruit! On the left, you can see the gigantic leaves of our zucchinis, as well as our smaller (comparatively) eggplants. On the right, you can see our pac choi and kale, as well as the weeds, which have also been enjoying the rainfall.

Some highlights include the largest cucumber plant (top left), a beautiful kale (top right) and our sunflowers that are developing buds (bottom center). We are so excited to see this burst of growth on our farm. It's a promising sign for things to come.

We have a new pest at our farm, the harlequin bug (Murgantia histrionica). We suspect that it has been devouring our pac choi, eating through the leaves. After visually examining each plant, we promptly remove them. They keep coming back, so the battle continues.

On a happier note, some of our basil seedlings are finally at a stage where they can be planted! They have found a new home in our trellis bed, in between our marigolds. Below you can see the some of the first cucumbers!
