On the Farm (Oct 5 - Oct 17)
The photo on the left shows a trellis that was assembled for our sugar snap peas. They were directly seeded into the bed with our sunflowers. In addition to the sugar snaps, we also directly seeded provider beans, and planted collard green and broccoli transplants. The photo on the right shows our watermelons that have grown tremendously! There are a lot of flowers; however, most of them are male. But...
...female flowers have been pollinated! The difference in the pictures above is only one week. It is incredible to see how quickly these fruits can develop. We will continue to keep an eye out for more female flowers!
We have had an incredible harvest thus far. In the photo above, you can see everything that we harvested in ONE day! Cucumbers, zucchinis, yellow squash, pac choi, dill, radish, kale, scallions, and sunflowers! And there is a lot more on the way as well! We have more cucumbers than we know what to do with. It is truly rewarding being able to harvest and eat fresh produce that we grew.
